After writing about 'most painful anime deaths' and 'top most bad ass anime character', I got an inspiration:
Many anime characters die, good more than bad, and that has always wretched at my heart but the thing is; although many characters die, they die out of sickness or some kind of unwanted disasters and may never fulfill that which they had planned. To die honorably is to die while holding/standing for that which you believe in even at the cost of your life, one might even call it dying as a hero to yourself and your beliefs.
There are anime characters who died doing what they felt was right, protecting, helping, guiding, loving, e.t.c.
NOTE; this list will not include any character from 'akame ga kill' as they all died honorably; both the heroes and the villains. It will be unfair for them to all take the spot in this list so I decided to let them sit this one out.
8. IGGY
Iggy is the least expectant character for someone who hasn't watched Jojo's bizarre adventure' but let me tell you, Amongst all the deaths I've seen in Jojo, this was the most honorable.
Iggy Is a dog, who was added to the crew to stop Dio against his will. He had no interest is stopping Dio nor putting himself in any form of danger, he always purposely cause problem for Jojo and the rest but things changed after he fought an eagle who had a stand just like him, in doing so he lost an arm and was pissed about it, that's when he decided to defeat Dio. The thing about his death is that he died protecting Polnareff, he was completely beaten to a pulp till the extent of death but he still used his last energy to save Polnareff. Sticking to his very own ideals till the bitter end.
7. Kamina
Kamina is a character from tengen toppa gurren lagann. He has always been a good friend and brother to Simon helping him giving him gutsy advice in a self centered way but he truly believed in Simon.
His death
Heavily wounded (Thymilph not only stabbed him through the chest, almost tearing him in two, he also shoots a beam through him, causing severe blood loss), but Kamina also combines with Simon to form Gurren Lagann and defeats the Beastman General with his signature move: "Giga Drill Break."
Kamina's death was the one factor that enabled team gurren to grow most especially Simon. Kamina died while living his life in freedom doing what he believes was best and what fighting for what he truly holds dear.
6. White beard
White beard is the captain of the white beard pirate ship and the former strongest man in the world. He is a pirate whose dream was to get a family of his own and when he finally got his family he always protected them. Ace is like a son to white beard and the original son the Gold .D. Roger one of the most treacherous individual to the world government and to them his son posses likely the same threat but white beard would never allow him to be executed Instead he would rather wage a war against the world government than allow his family to be taken away.
His death
White beard died the most honorable death in one piece history. He died after 267 sword wounds, 152 gun wounds and 46 cannon shots he never got a single scar on his back because he never turned back to run.
5. Muruem
Muruem is the main antagonist of the anime series "hunter x hunter" and the only villain on this list. Muruem was born as the chimera ant king, he simply got bored and tore out of his mother's belly, he was born with enough fighting ability/nen to counter the whole hunter association. He was just a pure evil villain who planned to eadicate humans. Not only was he strong but also smart, he defeated masters of various bored game just after learning it, that was when he met Komugi; a small blind girl who is a master in a board game called 'Gungi'. They played so many times but muruem could not defeat her. Soon after he picked interest in her, as she is the only person who he has not her defeated, they grew to become close friends. At the end muruem choose to play Gungi with Komugi one last time as he dies.
4. Adolf
Adolf is probably the most unpopular anime character in this list. But anyone who has seen 'Terra formers' would know just how good everything about it is, and that Includes the death of Adolf. Adolf is a captain with the mars ranking of #2, he is kind and gentle,till the extent he voluntered himself for an experiment in other to save some kids, even despite hating the fact that his wife cheated on him he couldn't bring himself to tell her as he didnt want to loose the only person who ever made him feel human.
Adolf died while protecting his team who were relatively weak from the Terra formers. He kept on protecting them till he died and even after his death.
3. Kyoguro Rengoku
Rengoku is a character from 'demon slayer' and to be honest when I first saw him I hated him with my very soul, that was during tangiro's confrontation with the hashira's this was because he kept spouting and supporting the notion to kill Nezuko with a straight/smiley face but all that changed after the mugen train arc. The fact that he stuck to his ideal of protecting humans gave me utmost joy. He was killed by akaza, the upper rank three demon and he would have won if not for the fact that Akaza had to cut off his hand in order to escape. Rengoku died sticking to his ideals because in a train of 200 people not a single life was lost. It is indeed a honorable death.
2. Lelouche lamperouge
Lelouche is the main character from Code Geass. He is a student whose aim was the destroy his father and rule over brittania. Although the journey to his goal was harsh and lives were lost he finally became the emperor, only to become a tyranny to the world and cause the world the greatest fear in human history. But this was all his elaborate plan in order to bring peace to the world. He died a hero to those who realized his plan but the world still hated him, that was the price he paid for peace, a honorable death Indeed.
- Erwin
Erwin is a character from 'attack on titan' and his death was by far, the most honorable. Just the fact that he knew that he was going to die, yet led a whole army to their doom.the amazing thing was how he kept on going while his men were killed one by one in their fight against the beast titan. Erwin kept pushing forward while screaming 'rage my soldier' and giving them moral. They were able to keep on going till there was one man left then till they all were anailated.
