This time were talking of two compete anime legends facing of in a one on one battle. The ironic thing is that the elements they use are polar opposites of each other; light (the sun) and darkness.
I even wrote a post about the top deadliest anime moves of all time, and the both of them made the list.
Escanor with his ‘cruel sun’ and captain Yami with ‘dimensional slash’. we’ll be examining their qualities, traits and how they would fare in a one on one fight against each other; their speed, strength and abilities.
Power
First let me hype the two characters, we all know that they both have no moments when they displayed immeasurable power. Like the battle of captain Yami against a member of the eye of the midnight sun and the fight of Escanor against one of the ten commandment (commandment of love).

I’ll give Escanor this one, reason being that Escanor possesses that amount of power that can completely overwhelm any opponent; that’s why he’s the sin of pride, and he is even stronger when he is wielding his holy weapon, don’t get me wrong Capt. Yami is not weak, just that when raw power is measured Escanor has him far outmatched.
Abilities
While Escanor has far greater raw power, Capt. Yami has a lot more abilities. To be a captain one must be insanely strong but that is not all, we know that when magic knights have a particular encounter they can gain a new magic spell therefore having more abilities. Just imagine the amount of spell that Yami would have stockpiled in his grimoire, they would not just be many but efficient.
Elements
These two phenomenal characters possess elemental abilities that are complete opposite of each other; Capt. Yami with darkness and Escanor with the sun. this one will also be given to Escanor. During Escanor fight against Melioda’s brother, his darkness couldn’t engulf Escanor flames. So also Capt. Yami’s darkness will have very little effect on escanor’s flame.
One might think that Escanor is completely weak in the absence of the sun, but that is not true. The seven deadly sin series, he made the sun shine in the middle of the night. Even if Yami gets him when he is in his weak form, he will still be able to revive as he did when Gowtherkilled him.
So this will be a complete victory for Escanor. Darkness cannot encompass his light
